ACCESS Test for English Learners Pushed from Possible Start Date of Jan. 4 To No Sooner Than March 15
The original administration window for the ACCESS test, which measures the proficiency of English Learners in reading, writing, speaking and listening, would have allowed schools to begin testing as early as Jan. 4. ISBE has announced a decision which ensures no student will take a federally required assessment, including ACCESS, until March 15 at the earliest. Due to this announcement, our original notice regarding the start of District 118’s ACCESS testing has been postponed. Thank you.

Gracias.

Erin’s Law
Erin’s Law is named after childhood sexual assault survivor, author, speaker and activist Erin Merryn. Erin’s Law (in Illinois, Public Act 96-1524) mandates that Illinois public schools provide training to certified staff on prevention of child sexual abuse. It also mandates that public school children pre-kindergarten through 12th grade be educated on how to protect themselves from sexual abuse. Students learn age-appropriate techniques to recognize child sexual abuse and tell a trusted adult. School personnel learn about child sexual abuse. Any questions or concerns can be addressed by building administrators, guidance counselors or school social workers.
